Striding Forward TogetherMartin Luther King, Jr. Park is an inspiring memorial to Dr. King and his leadership during the Civil Rights Movement. The memorial features an 8' bronze statue of Dr. King as a focal point, with beautiful landscaping and benches surrounding the statue. The memorial was funded with a $100,000 donation from the Anderson Area Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Commission. The park site was donated by Will J. Carter, a prominent local businessman, and dedicated on October 22, 1988.

Ray Wright, MLK, Jr. Memorial Commission President The statue of Dr. King was designed and executed by Indiana sculptor Kenneth G. Ryden, and cast at Anderson University. Ryden's life-like rendering of Dr. King striding forward, is the only statue of the civil rights leader in the state of Indiana.
